Data Scientist

 

ABC seeks to recruit a Data Scientist in the Group Innovation Department.

The purpose of the Data Scientist is to analyze large amounts of raw information to find patterns that will help with digital innovation in Bank ABC. The Data Scientist will be relied on to build data products to extract valuable business insights. In this role, the Data Scientist will be required to be highly analytical with a strong capability for analysis and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. The job holder to support as well AI and Machine Learning related initiatives. The scope of the activities to be within the responsibilities of Group Innovation Lab and Innovation Framework.

 

Scope of the Job

• Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
• Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
• Analyze large amounts of internal and external information to discover trends and patterns
• Build or adopt predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
• Combine models through ensemble modeling
• Present information using data visualization techniques
• Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
• Collaborate with business, operations and IT teams to find innovate way to utilise data to add business value in innovative ways.
• Support the implementation of AI and Machines Learning related pilots, POCs and rollouts.
• Support the activities of the Group Innovation Lab and Innovation Framework

 

Areas of Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred
• Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
• Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
• Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
• Ability to gather and analyse information, judgment and decision making, communication competencies
• Experience in data mining
• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to interact with the public
• Analytical mind and business acumen
• Problem-solving aptitude
